Cambuslang RFC 76 vs Helensburgh RFC 26

Cambuslang Rugby Club head coach Jamie Seery reckons they are one point from safety. The Cambus thrashed struggling Helensburgh 76-26 on Saturday to take them 12 points clear of the drop zone. And even with the disappointment of conceding so many, he hailed his side’s improvement since the 76-0 humiliation to Garnock. He said: “We were delighted to come away with five points which could obviously be vital. We played some good rugby. We’re disappointed to concede the tries but the guys played well. It was pleasing to come back from the loss in the previous game. We were missing a few and basically had a full team of forwards so the result was expected. So to bounce back and get a similar result in our favour was good.”

Seery hopes to tighten up the defence and for a repeat offensive performance in this weekend’s vital clash. “We’ve not played Annan yet but we’ll be going down there with a strong side and we know a win could keep us up. We’ll need to make sure we’re up for the challenge.”
